McDonald and Sons Engineering are a family run company. They were founded in 1996 by Patrick J McDonald who had 35 years of experience in that sector. Firepits and Pieces is the new retail focus for business which specialises in high-quality steel fire pits.
The company has been trading successfully in the Steel Industry for many years, based in Laois. Since Patrick has retired, the business has been taken over by his two sons Evan and Keith McDonald, who both have a vast knowledge in engineering and design aspects of the business. It’s both a structural and fabricator company which can design and create many different steel requirements in this Irish building industry.
They currently have 12 employees who specialize in different areas of the company such as welding, product design, transport and a variety of fitters on site. Their company has been involved in many big construction jobs including the 5 star Heritage Golf Club and Hotel in Killenard, Co. Laois.
The customers come from many different sectors from farmers looking to construct new farm buildings, to GAA boards looking for new stands for their football and hurling grounds. In its 25 years, the company has gone from strength to strength and is highly regarded in the midlands area for its expertise in this sector.
The company has recently launched a range of custom fire pits that have developed a range of custom made fire pits that are highly desirable on the Irish market.
All of our fire pits and products are designed and manufactured in Ireland. We design and manufacture all our products from our premises in Portlaoise, County Laois.
